Cape Town

CAPE TOWN

Cape Town or Cape Town nicknamed the Mother City, is the capital of the Western Cape Province and is the legislative center of South Africa. The city has about 2.9 million inhabitants; emotionally, however, it seems much smaller and especially more intimate. It is the second city in the country which has gained a lot of fame due to apartheid in the past and more recently the World Cup in 2010.

Cape Town is the number 1 destination in the world

The city is located in the southwesternmost point of South Africa and was originally a refreshment station for Dutch ships bound for East Africa, the Indies or the Far East. It was also one of the first permanent European settlements south of the Sahara. Cape Town grew from a small port town to the largest city in South Africa. Johannesburg later took over this honor, partly because of the gold rush.

The reasons to go to Cape Town for a (shorter) business incentive are in our opinion:

  • There is almost no time difference compared to the Netherlands.
  • The perfect climate.
  • The relaxed mentality.
  • It is a place where people do not go on holiday (so quickly) with the family.
  • There is so much to see and, above all, to do.
  • Good hotels.
  • Delicious food.
  • And finally, it is a surprisingly affordable destination.

Are you coming? Below is an example program that we have previously performed.
Example program

Hotel: The Bay hotel - Camps Bay - 5 *****

The elegant 5-star The Bay Hotel is located in Camps Bay, just South West of Cape Town. The wealthy of Cape Town live in this place and that reflects on the environment. The hotel has a colonial feel and features a landscaped garden with 4 outdoor pools overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the Twelve Apostles mountain range. The rooms are spacious and equipped with every comfort and luxury such as satellite TV, a DVD player and an iPod docking station. The most luxurious rooms have a spacious living room and a private balcony with a spa bath and a view of the sea.

The city center is a 10-minute drive from the hotel, the Table Mountain Cable Car is only 4 kilometers away and the Victoria & Albert Waterfront is 9 kilometers away. The hotel has its own transport in the form of white Porsche Panamera's. The hotel's reception is open 24 hours a day. It is a wonderful place to stay, with all the luxury and comfort. Flights: daily with KLM

  • From Amsterdam: Departure: 10:05 - Arrival 22:35
  • From Cape Town: Departure: 00:25 - Arrival 11:25
Or via one of the many other European cities with a short stopover. You can take a night flight from London, Munich and London so that you arrive in Cape Town in the morning.

Day 1

The journey begins at Schiphol, where the group starts the journey in a relaxed manner. KLM flies a modern Boeing 777 equipped with the latest gadgets such as the entertainment set. Or you take your iPad with you to read a good book or watch a movie. But above all, you can also chat with the other guests. Every now and then you look outside and see the entire African continent pass you by. In this way, the journey goes smoothly and quickly. Upon arrival in Cape Town. The luggage is taken for the guests by porters and an authentic South African beauty welcomes the guests with a beautiful necklace.

Despite it being late, a welcome drink is waiting in the hotel and the bar is still open. That makes checking in a fun activity. Some will explore their room, others will try a real South African beer (or two). Then sleep well for tomorrow.
Day 2

The day starts with a lovely sun shining through the window. The warm air meets you when you open the window. In the dining room there is a delicious buffet with all kinds of international breakfast items, supplemented with local delicacies. Then the bus is ready to take everyone to Hout Bay. There, so-called Power Boats are ready for a trip across the ocean. Cape Town is mainly located on the Atlantic Ocean and it is cold. The Indian Ocean has a warm Gulf Stream. The spray of the cold Atlantic Ocean on your face will wake you up well. In the background we see Sentinel Mountain and we sail to Duiker Island, home to a colony of seals and a favorite eatery of the Great White Shark. The seals are special to see and who knows, another shark will come along in search of a meal. That's just nature. Furthermore we follow wild rugged coastline, we sail past an old ship wreck back to the harbor.

Lunch will take place in a delightful restaurant right on the coast. It almost goes without saying that people here serve fresh fish from the Atlantic Ocean. Most take fresh tiger shrimps and eat their fingers with it. I myself am more a fan of King Klip, a variant of our cod that is prepared in a special way. But one can also choose meat.

In the afternoon we drive on. The route takes us through the enormous park of Table Mountain and so we drive to Cape point, Boulders. There lives (among other things) a colony of Jackass (donkey) penguins. We can visit them and that is very special. In the visitor center you will learn a lot about their living behavior and habits. Did you know that these animals only occur in the Southern Hemisphere? And that you can recognize these penguins by their pink spot near the eyes? This way the day runs smoothly. Then it is time for a drink and then a bite to eat.

The Shimmy Beach Club is a perfect place for this. Nice people and a location with a huge "WOW" factor. Just have a look at the virtual tour. Instead of choosing a menu, all dishes with different dishes are put on the tables. So you can choose yourself from all the delicious things. This is how a wonderful first day in South Africa ends.
Day 2

This day is all about wine. The well-known wine regions of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek are located to the East of Cape Town and you can taste and purchase the best wines. On the way to the wine region, the guide will tell you more about the history and what to expect. Enjoy is written in capital letters and therefore a wine tasting in Boekenhout gorge. The name alone raises questions, so don't hesitate to ask. Then there is actually a bike tour through the grape fields and along various wine houses. Of course another stop to taste some wine. For those who want to know (or find out); this time at Grand Provence. Then it's time for "relaxation"

Lunch consists of an authentic picnic lunch. Under the cooling trees, on the soft grass, various tables are ready and guests are given a basket containing an extensive picnic. Of course, a good glass of wine should not be missed. Enjoy the silence, the fun stories and the rustic atmosphere. South Africa through and through. That is how time flies. At the end of the afternoon we pay a visit to the Franschhoek Motor Museum. there they have a beautiful collection of cars from different times; both recent and the most beautiful classics.

Dinner takes place in a hip and trendy Granger Bay restaurant. It has no official address, but we know where to find it. And are not the only ones. They are 2 old business halls that have been converted into an attractive restaurant. Complete with sandy beach, outside bars and beach chairs. Let South Africa do its job and breathe in the atmosphere of this beautiful country. No extensive menus here either, but trays of food are served throughout the evening. It starts with pizza and ends with a grand dessert. In between a variety of dishes. I never want to leave here. Nevertheless, the evening ends and we return to the hotel satisfied.
Day 3

The day starts quietly. Seems can be deceiving because in front of the hotel it is quite a lot of noise. It's full of Harley Davidson motorcycles; I count more than 30 pieces. And for a reason. In the lobby we get a bandana with our own logo on it. We are going to ride on the most authentic motorcycle we know; the Harley. The route takes us along coastal roads, through villages and then higher and higher into the hills where the tour ends at Signal hill. We have lunch there. Then a bus takes us back to town. for a free afternoon for some shopping and walking in the Waterfront. Sevruga is the place for the closing dinner. A festive meal to round off a few special days. Then it is time to say goodbye to South Africa and we go to the airport for the flight back to the Netherlands. We arrive there the next morning. Maybe a little tired, but oh so satisfied with a wonderful journey. South Africa, I want to see and experience a lot more from you.

The above program gives an impression of the possibilities to go to Cape Town with a group of guests for 2 days. However, this is just one of the many possibilities. Various other programs can be put together and we are happy to do this in consultation with the customer. An extra day can easily be linked to it. There are also various options in terms of budget. This program has an indicative budget of approximately 1000 euros per person (excluding flights) and based on 35 people. Prices vary per season but do give an indication.
